This Privacy Policy explains how Integrated Media Systems, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use Field Compass (the "App").
Field Compass works offline. We do not receive your location, sensor readings, saved places, or settings. The App has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, or developer-operated backend.
1. Information the App accesses and uses
- Location: With your permission, the App accesses your device's location, including precise coordinates when available, altitude, accuracy, and reading time. It uses this information to display your position and altitude, estimate true north, and calculate distance and direction to saved places. These calculations take place on your device.
- Sensor readings: The App accesses available compass and motion sensors to provide heading, orientation, angle, and bubble-level features. Live readings are processed on your device and are not sent to us.
- Saved places and preferences: When you save a place, the App stores its name, coordinates, icon, and related place details locally. It also stores your settings locally so they are available after restarting the App.
The App does not keep a continuous location history. Live measurements and the active destination are session data; location is retained as a saved place only when you choose to save it.
2. Permissions and your choices
The App requests foreground location permission when you use its location action. It does not request background location access or track your location in the background. Location and sensor subscriptions stop when the App enters the background or the relevant feature is no longer active.
Motion permission may be requested for the bubble level where your operating system requires it. You can deny or revoke permissions through your device settings. Features that depend on those permissions may become unavailable; you can still enter saved places manually and use other supported features.
3. Sharing and third-party services
We do not sell, rent, or transmit your in-app location, sensor data, saved places, or settings to advertisers, data brokers, or our servers.
If you choose Copy or Share, the App places the selected information on your system clipboard or passes it to your device's sharing interface. This may include coordinates or saved-place details. Information you send to another app or person is handled under that recipient's privacy practices. Clipboard access and retention depend on your operating system and its settings.
Your operating system, location provider, app store, and any enabled device backup service may process information independently under their own policies and your settings. Device location services may use network services even though the App's compass and navigation calculations run locally.
4. Storage, retention, and deletion
Saved places and preferences remain in local app storage until you delete them or remove the App's stored data. You can delete individual saved places in the App. On Android, you can clear the App's storage through system settings to remove saved places and preferences. Uninstalling the App generally removes its local data; operating-system backups may retain or later restore copies.
If you use the web version, you can remove locally saved data by clearing the site's storage in your browser. Manage any device or cloud backups separately through your operating system or backup provider. We cannot access or remotely delete information stored only on your device or in your backups.
Local app storage is not separately encrypted by the App. Its protection depends on your device's security, operating system, and backup settings.
5. Information you send to us
If you email us, we receive your email address and any information you include. We use this information to respond to your request and resolve support or privacy matters. Email is handled through our email provider. We retain correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or to meet applicable legal obligations. You can contact us to request deletion of your correspondence, subject to any required retention.
6. Children's privacy
The App does not have accounts or send children's location or sensor readings to us. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, please contact us so we can address it and delete it where appropriate.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App or our privacy practices change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
